The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, also known as a King
Charles Spaniel, is an affectionate, sweet-natured small dog that enjoys love and affection. One of the larger toy breeds, Cavaliers will average ten to eighteen pounds. These dogs have similar characteristics of other spaniel dogs; however, they stand out with the treasured appearance of their full length feathery coat and tail.
Cavaliers are moderately active dogs and should be kept indoors. They are very social and thrive on the companionship of humans and other pets therefore they are not a best fit for a kennel and should not be left alone for long periods of time. They enjoy both playing indoors or going for walks outside on a leash. Being an intelligent dog, the Cavalier breed is easy to train. Cavaliers are sensitive and respond well to gentle and positive reinforcement. As a result Cavaliers make great Companion Dogs, Obedience Dogs, Agility Dogs, Therapy Dogs and Show Dogs.
